Suzuki Equator Auto Insurance
The name Suzuki does not typically conjure up images of rough-and-ready vehicles, driven to take on all comers, haul gear and generally get things done. Suzuki tends to be associated with high-performance Japanese cars which are lightweight and quick. Nonetheless, in 2008, Suzuki showed off a new truck design, the Equator, at the Chicago Auto show. It was not available for purchase until 2009 in North America, and the base model retailed for just over $17,000 USD. This truck is a light-duty vehicle, and is based off of the Nissan Frontier platform. It is in fact assembled by Nissan but badged and distributed by Suzuki. Though it has yet to really catch hold in the American market, it does have several features to recommended it, and Suzuki Equator auto insurance is slowly becoming more popular as well as more cost-effective.
At its heart, the Suzuki Equator shares a number of functional features with trucks of a similar type. In the United States, it is sold in both the extended and crew cab version, while in Canada, only the crew cab model is produced. The extended cab comes standard with a 2.5 liter, 4 cylinder 152 hp engine that supplies power to the truck’s rear-wheel drive system. This is a small engine for a truck, but with just over 3,000 lbs of curb weight, it is enough to complete most light-duty work without difficulty. Towing using this engine is not recommended, but Suzuki offers an optional upgrade to a 4.0 liter V6 261 hp engine in the extended cab, a feature which is standard in the crew cab. This engine is also available in a 4-wheel drive package.
The smaller standard engine, combined with the Suzuki brand name has kept many Americans away from this truck in favor of old standbys such as Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge, but in a 2009 test conducted by Peterson’s 4Wheel & Off-Road magazine, the Equator was named 4×4 of the year, beating out the Dodge Ram, Ford F150 and Toyota Sequoia just to name a few. The crew cab version of the Equator easily sits five people, and the engine puts out more than enough power for towing, while still offering 15 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway.
