Record-breaking Road Trip Across America
On October 19th, Ed Bolian and his team left New York at 9:55pm EST and arrived in Redondo Beach, California the next day at 11:46pm PST… Their cross-country drive took 28 hours and 50 minutes, taking first place for the fastest road trip across America.
Here’s a picture of Ed Bolian, his co-driver Dave Black and their support passenger Dan Huang from Bolian’s blog:
So, how did the trio do it? An AOL Auto article says they had the help of “extra fuel tanks, high quality radar detectors and bedpans to cut down on stops…”
First off, kudos to these guys, that is pretty hardcore. Secondly, regarding the bedpans, I guess you gotta do what you gotta do. (But, for the record, ew.)
For those interested in the details, the three men used a 2004 Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG as their vehicle of choice and averaged at a speed of 98 mph (with a high of 158 mph).
