Ever been in a parking lot accident? Or suffered a small fender-bender? Or maybe even a more serious accident, where a passenger in your car was injured?
Your auto insurance typically will kick in and save you financially when this happens. However, there is one lesser-known result of doing this – your auto insurance premium will usually go up.
A Jan. 2015 insuranceQuotes.com study found that making just one auto insurance claim will increase your premium by an average of 41 percent nationwide. However, this rate varies wildly by state and in some states, it can be even more expensive to make a claim.
