Car Insurance Checkpoints
If you were stopped on the road today, would you have all your papers in order? That’s what cops in North Miami Beach checked today at a car insurance checkpoint that they set up.
Basically, it sounds like what it is: cops systematically asked drivers to show them their license, registration and insurance.

The story from NBC Miami doesn’t state how many vehicles were checked or how long the stakeout lasted, but the cops did state the main reason for this investigation:
“… [The] police say they’re doing this is to make sure those who are break the law don’t potentially ruin the lives of those who are obeying it.“
To break it down for you, if you get in an accident with someone who doesn’t have a valid license or valid insurance YOU’RE the one that could get screwed, even if it’s not your fault.
So, for the sake of other drivers — and now, so that you don’t get embarrassed during a random police checkpoint, carry the appropriate documentation at all times and make sure it’s still timely! Also, kudos to North Miami Beach for doing something like this. There’s no time like the present to have all your docs in a row.
